Kruger Inc. is a fourth-generation family-owned business. It was founded by Joseph Kruger in 1904 as a paper merchant in Montreal, Canada. Joseph Kruger II is the chairman and primary family owner.
Kruger is the second-largest producer of newsprint in North America. In addition, the company is one of the largest manufacturers of Linerboard and operates three box plants in Canada. It also operates an energy division with wind, solar and hydroelectric generation plants. Kruger is the largest producer of tissue products in Canada with mills in Ontario and Quebec. It has a mill in Memphis, Tenn., that supplies private-label tissue to Walmart and Costco. Lastly, the company has a real estate division and develops and operates a real estate portfolio in Canada and the United States.
Hank Jonas, a third-generation family member, is director, corporate development. He has been with the company for over 25 years and is active in corporate management and family/corporate relations.
